K-Tribe Unique Jewellery K-tribe Silver jewellery and Cinnabar Jewellery with unique designs. K-tribe is owned by Karen Davidson . The name came about after trekking through the hill tribes of Thailand where I came upon a tribe of textile weavers called the Karen Tribe. Having always had an affinity with tribal cultures and a passion for textiles and colour I decided that I would name my business after them. K-Tribe Silver jewellery is handmade with Cinnabar and Sterling silver. It is designed in Australia and the silver is then made to fit around the cinnabar due to the slightly irregular shapes.
About Cinnabar
Cinnabar is a mineral that is found near volcanoes and hot springs. It was used in China for many years when it was added to Lacquer and carved to make many different art pieces and jewellery. Unfortunately real Cinnabar has a high mercury level which makes it unsafe to wear or have around the home. These days carvers use a simulated cinnabar which they add to the resin to create the rich colours which makes it not only fabulous to look at but safe to wear.
